ONLINE VISA APPLICATION PROCESS

ALL VISA APPLICANTS ARE REQUIRED TO FILL IN AND SUBMIT THEIR VISA APPLICATION FORMS ONLINE. THE FORM CAN BE ACCESSED HERE. (Link - https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/).

 A PHOTOGRAPH IS ALSO REQUIRED TO BE UPLOADED AFTER FILLING IN THE ONLINE APPLICATION FORM. GUIDELINES FOR PHOTO REQUIREMENTS MAY BE SEEN IN THE LINK: https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/VSS_IMAGE.pdf.  EACH APPLICATION SUBMITTED ONLINE WILL GENERATE A UNIQUE WEB FILE NUMBER STARTING WITH THE LETTERS 'ROUBV...'. A PRINTOUT OF THE APPLICATION USING THE WEB FILE NUMBER IS THEN TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE EMBASSY BY THE APPLICANT IN PERSON ALONGWITH ALL THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS LISTED BELOW UNDER THE TYPE OF VISA APPLIED FOR TO COMPLETE THE BIOMETRIC PROCESS, THE PRINTED PHOTO TO BE SUBMITTED WITH THE APPLICATION FORM SHOULD BE THE SAME AS THE PHOTO UPLOADED. APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED ONLINE WILL REMAIN IN THE SYSTEM FOR 3 WEEKS WITHIN WHICH IT HAS TO BE SUBMITTED AT THE EMBASSY WITH ALL THE SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS. IF NOT, APPLICANTS WILL HAVE TO RE-APPLY ONLINE. APPLICANTS MAY NOTE THE WEB FILE NUMBER TO TRACK THE STATUS OF THEIR APPLICATION PROCESS ONLINE BY CLICKING ON 'VISA ENQUIRY' IN THE LINK FOR THE APPLICATION FORM.

NO APPOINTMENT IS REQUIRED TO BE SCHEDULED TO SUBMIT THE APPLICATIONS IN PERSON. APPLICANTS CAN VISIT THE EMBASSY BETWEEN 0930-1230 HRS ON ANY WORKING DAY TO SUBMIT THEIR APPLICATIONS. NORMAL PROCESSING TIME FOR VISAS IS BETWEEN 1-2 WORKING DAYS FROM DATE OF ACCEPTANCE OF THE APPLICATION IN THE EMBASSY. PROCESSING TIME COULD BE MORE IN EXCEPTIONAL CASES REQUIRING ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS / CLARIFICATIONS / INTERVIEWS AND CLEARANCES.

THE VISAS ARE ISSUED IN A STICKER FORMAT WITH PHOTOGRAPH OF THE APPLICANT AND DOES NOT REQUIRE THE SIGNATURE OF THE CONSULAR OFFICER.

 

OTHER INFORMATION ABOUT INDIAN VISAS:

  • All visas are valid from the dates of their issue based on the requirement of the applicant and the discretion of the Embassy. Transit visas are valid for stay up to 72 hours on each transit. Visa applications can be submitted in the Consular Section of the Embassy between 0930-1230 hrs and collected between 1600-1700 hrs on all working days. Visa can be collected either personally, or by a third party on presenting the original receipt or an authorization letter.

  • No visa is required for transit passengers who take their connecting flight from within the airport without entering any Indian city. However, a transit visa will be required in case the transit involves clearing and recheck-in of baggage on another airline if the baggage is not booked to its final destination as this will involve clearing Immigration before proceeding to the departure area to re-check-in the baggage for taking the onward flight. Travelers are advised to confirm the requirement with the airline at the time of booking their tickets.
     

  • Acceptance of visa application does not automatically guarantee grant of a visa.

  • Visa processing fee once deposited shall not be refunded. Fee should be deposited only after ascertaining the correct type and period of visa applicable for the purpose of visit and after arranging all required documents.

  • The duration and number of entries granted to the applicant will be solely at the discretion of the Embassy. No claims and correspondences shall be entertained in this regard.

  • Foreign nationals in Romania/Moldova/Albania having stay permit less than two years should apply for employment visa from their home countries.

  • All applicants should check the details in their visas, immediately after collection, and bring any discrepancies to the notice of the Consular staff without delay for clarification / rectification. If not, the Embassy will not bear any responsibility thereafter.

  • Satellite telephone services like Thuraya and Irridium are not permitted in India. TCL (Tata Communications Limited) is permitted to provide Inmarsat services in India only after a no objection certificate is issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) on a case to case basis. Unauthorized use of satellite telephone services will be prosecuted under section 6 of Indian Wireless Act and section 20 of Indian Telegraph Act.


Tourist Visa

Is issued to persons wishing to visit India as tourists, or for meeting friends and relatives, will be given six months or less tourist visas. Tourist visas are non-extendable and non-convertible. Double or multiple entry tourist visas should be applied for if the applicants wish to also travel to neighbouring countries and return through India.

  • Visa Application form duly filled in and signed.

  • Flight bookings and accommodation arrangements in India. In case the visit is on invitation of an Indian citizen, please provide a written invitation along with a copy of Indian identity of the person who is inviting.

  • Applications of children of Indian origin, have to be signed by either parent if the child(ren) are to travel alone or with a parent. 

  • Visa Fees (Payable in RON in Cash)


Business Visa
Business Visa is granted to a foreign national who wants to visit India to establish an industrial/ business venture, to explore possibilities to set up industrial/business venture, to purchase/sell industrial products or visit the Indian offices of their companies for business meetings, setting up facilities, training etc. Non-Romanian/Albanian/Moldovan passport holders may please note that Business visa can be considered in their case only if they have been resident in Romania/Moldova/Albania for the past two years. Proof of such residence as residence permit or work permit and other documents listed below. Registration with Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) is required within 14 days of arrival in India if the stay is more than 180 days.

Documents required:

  • Passport valid for a minimum of 180 days with at least two blank pages.

  • Visa Application form filled in and signed.

  • Additional form (for Business visa applicants only).

  • A signed letter from the employer in Romania/Albania/Moldova introducing the applicant with details of his designation, passport etc and stating nature of his visit to India, its duration, number of visits envisaged etc. the letter should also give details of the nature of business in which the company is involved.

  • A signed letter of invitation from the Indian entity which the applicant will visit on its letterhead stating the purpose, duration and number of visits for which visa is required.

  • Flight bookings and accommodation arrangements in India.


Journalist Visa

Granted to professional journalists, photographers, and television and film crew. Visa is granted for a period up to three months. Journalists and photographers are granted only Journalist visa irrespective of the purpose of their visit.

Documents required:

  • Passport valid for a minimum of 180 days with at least two blank pages.

  • One recent Passport size photographs as per guidelines indicated in link given above in ONLINE VISA APPLICATION PROCESS.

  • Visa Application form filled in and signed.

  • Letter from the employer / TV or other Media House stating the purpose of travel.

  • Letter from Indian entity with whom the foreign media will collaborate or use assistance of for the filming.

  • Any other document(s) as may be required on a case to case basis.

  • Flight bookings and accommodation arrangements in India.

Student Visa
Student visas are granted to bona fide students to pursue regular studies at recognized institutions in India and to persons going for studying Yoga, Vedic Culture, Indian systems of dance/music etc at recognised and designated Cultural Institutions. The visa is valid for the period of study as approved by the educational/recognized institutions in India. Registration with Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) is required within 14 days of arrival in India if the stay is more than 180 days.

Documents required:

  • Passport valid to cover duration of course with at least two blank pages

  • One recent passport size photograph as per guidelines indicated in link given above in ONLINE VISA APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Visa Application form filled in and signed.

  • Letter of admission from a recognized Indian educational institution clearly stating the name of the course, its duration and fees charged including (board and lodging) including for courses like yoga, Vedic culture, Indian dance & Music

  • Document showing financial support for the tuition fee and stay in India.

  • No objection letter from Parents of applicant to study abroad for applicants below 18 years

  • Flight bookings and accommodation arrangements in India.


Conference visa
Conference Visas are granted to applicants on production of an  invitation to an International conference /seminar/workshop being organized in India by a Ministry or Department of the Government of India; public sector undertaking; central educational institution; public funded universities; organizations owned and controlled by the Government of India/State Government/Union Territory/United Nations or its specialized agencies. The organizers of the conference etc are required to obtain prior clearances from nodal/line Ministry concerned of the Central/state governments, the Central Ministries of Home and External Affairs. These approvals are to be conveyed to the Embassy and to the applicants who should include them with their applications.

Documents required:

  • Passport valid for a minimum of 180 days with at least two blank pages.

  • Visa Application form filled in and signed.

  • A copy of the signed Letter of Invitation for the Conference from organizers in India.

  • A copy of the letter from the Institution represented by the applicant in Romania/Albania/Moldova.

  • Clearance letters from the Indian Ministries as indicated above.

  • Flight bookings and accommodation arrangements in India.


Medical visa

A Medical visa is given for a medical treatment. Duration and number of entries of the visa will depend on the nature of illness and its treatment certified by the Indian consulting doctor. Registration with Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) is required within 14 days of arrival in India if the stay is more than 180 days.

Documents required:

  • Passport valid for a minimum of 180 days with at least two blank pages.

  • One recent passport size photograph as per guidelines indicated in link given above in ONLINE VISA APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Visa Application form filled in and signed.

  • Relevant letters signed and stamped from the hospital concerned in India.

  • Medical case history of the patient with recommendations of local doctor attending on the patient.

  • Flight bookings and accommodation arrangements in India.


Medical Attendant visa

A Medical Escort visa is given to those who are accompanying a patient. Maximum of two escorts are permitted with a patient. Visa is granted coterminous with the visa of the patient. Registration with Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) is required within 14 days of arrival in India if the stay is more than 180 days.

Documents required:

  • Passport valid for a minimum of 180 days with at least two blank pages.

  • One recent passport-size photograph as per guidelines indicated in link given above in ONLINE VISA APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Visa Application form filled in and signed.

  • Letter from doctor/hospital certifying the requirement of an attendant.

  • Documents relating to the medical treatment of patient

  • Flight bookings and accommodation arrangements in India.


Research visa

Research Visas are granted for Research work for a maximum of three years or for the duration of the research project, whichever is earlier. Registration with Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) is required within 14 days of arrival in India if the stay is more than 180 days.

Documents required:

  • Passport valid to cover the duration of the research with at least two blank pages.

  • One recent passport size photograph as per guidelines indicated in link given above in ONLINE VISA APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Visa Application form filled in and signed.

  • Submission of subject of research along with the application

  • Original admission letter of recognized university. (emails or photocopies of admission letters will not be accepted

  • Evidence of financial resources. 

  • Flight bookings and accommodation arrangements in India.


Transfer of visa

For transferring a long term visa from an old passport to a new passport, applicants are required to submit the old passport which holds the valid Indian Visa and the current valid passport. Passport valid for a minimum of 180 days with at least two blank pages.

Documents required:

  • Passport valid for a minimum of 180 days with at least two blank pages.

  • Visa Application form filled in and signed.

  • Passport valid for a minimum of 180 days with at least two blank pages.

  • Old passport in which current visa has been granted

  • Existing Indian visa should be valid for more than 30 days on the day you apply for Transfer of visa.


Entry Visa
An Entry Visa is given for specific purposes such as Indian origin applicants visiting relatives, or for any other purpose not covered specifically under any of the other visa categories. Registration with Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) is required within 14 days of arrival in India if the stay is more than 180 days.

Documents required:

  • Passport valid for a minimum of 180 days with at least two blank pages.

  • One recent passport-size photograph as per guidelines indicated in link given above in ONLINE VISA APPLICATION PROCESS.

  • Visa Application form filled in and signed.

  • Invitation letter from the organization/agency based in India and a letter from the concerned institute in Romania/Albania/Moldova for persons going for voluntary work. For students letter from their institutions and letter of financial guarantee either from parents or Bank.

  • Applications of children of Indian origin have to be signed by both parents if the child(ren) are to travel alone or with only one parent. 

  • Flight bookings and accommodation arrangements in India.

  • Documents establishing relationship in cases of relatives visiting or joining family in Indian.


Employment Visa

Employment visa is granted to a foreigner to take up an employment in India. Visa is granted for the duration of the employment or to a maximum period of two years whichever is less. Annual salary should not be less than USD 25000 per year. The employment will have to be subject to Income Tax as stipulated by the IT Act of India as applicable. Registration with Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) is required within 14 days of arrival in India if the stay is more than 180 days. Employment Visa will be considered only if an Indian Company is authorized by the Government of India to employ foreign nationals and will be only to specialized positions. Employment visa will be accepted at this embassy only from citizens of Romania/Albania/Moldova. Applicants of other nationalities will be accepted if applicant has been resident in one of these three countries for a period of at least two years. If not, they will have to apply for their visa from the Indian Embassy in their country of origin.

Further extension of visa/stay is done by the state governments/Union Territories/Foreigners Regional Registration Office, and Foreigner's Regional Registration Office.

In case of change in employer, a fresh employment visa will have to be applied for and obtained from the Indian Mission in their country of origin of the applicant.  

Documents required:

  • Passport valid for the duration of the employment with at least two blank pages.

  • Visa Application form duly filled in and signed.

  • Proof of employment in the form of detailed employment contract giving detailed terms and conditions of the employment by the company/organization etc. in India, which should be signed by both the employer and the applicant.

  • Letter of offer of employment from the Indian company.

  • Documentary proof of educational qualifications and professional expertise.

  • Flight bookings and accommodation arrangements in India.


Project Visa

Project visa is granted to foreign nationals going to India for execution of projects in the power and steel sectors.

Documents required:

  • Passport valid for a minimum of 180 days with at least two blank pages.

  • One recent passport-size photograph as per guidelines indicated in link given above in ONLINE VISA APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Visa Application form duly filled in and signed.

  • Letters from the employers of the applicant and the Indian company offering the employment

  • Employment contract with detailed terms and conditions.

  • Flight bookings and accommodation arrangements in India

  • Project visa will be accepted at this Embassy only from applicants who are citizens of Romania/Albania/Moldova. Applicants of all other nationalities should apply for their visa from the Indian Mission in their country of origin.


Transit Visa

A transit visa is granted to enable applicants to transit through India to destinations in other countries.. The visa will be valid for entries within one month of date of issue for a maximum stay of 3 days on each transit. Transit visa is not required if a traveler will be transiting from within the airport. However, a transit visa will be required in case the transit involves clearing and recheck-in of baggage on another airline (as in the case of travel to Nepal, Sri Lanka etc) as this will involve clearing Immigration before proceeding to the departure area for taking the onward flight. Travelers are advised to confirm the requirement with the airline at the time of booking their tickets. 

Documents required:

  • Passport valid for a minimum of 180 days with at least two blank pages.

  • Visa Application form duly filled in and signed.

  • Copy of confirmed air ticket for onward journey.

  • Flight bookings and accommodation arrangements in India.

  • In case of Seamen Joining Vessels in Indian ports additional documents are required such as :

  • Invitation letter from the Agent In India

  • A letter from the Local Agent who is sending to India.

  • Copy of seamen’s book.


Intern Visa
Intern Visa is granted to a foreigner intending to pursue internship in Indian companies, Educational Institutions and NGOs. Internships with NGOs will require the prior clearance of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Period of visa is maximum one year. The gap between commencement of internship and completion of graduation/post graduation should not be more than one year. Interns sponsored under AIESEC will also be covered under this visa category. Film Visa
Film visa is granted to applicants who propose to shoot feature film, television, cinema and reality TV shows commercial TV serials etc.

Documents required:

  Passport valid for a minimum of 180 days with at least two blank pages.

  • One recent passport size photograph taken against a plain light colored or white background.

  Visa Application form duly filled in and signed.

Flight bookings and accommodation arrangements in India

  • 4 copies of detailed shooting script in case of feature film

  • Detailed concept in case of TV shows/TV serials

  • Details of visiting film crew and locations of film shooting

  • Details of places they will visit, separate letters giving names of crew with their passport details, list of equipment imported into India for the filming, detailed itinerary for the duration of filming etc..

  • Special permits will be required for filming in archaeological, heritage and restricted sites.

  • Any other document(s) as may be required on a case to case basis.
